Injections & Nerve Blocks

Interventional pain management treats pain at its source with targeted, image-guided procedures instead of a lifetime of pills. Each injection also tells us something: whether that structure really is your pain generator.

One pain generator at a time

Some injections, like trigger point injections, target muscle pain. Others — facet injections, selective nerve blocks — focus on a specific structure in the spine. Dr. Coccaro isolates and treats one pain source at a time, and he doesn’t believe in a reflexive “series of three”: if the first injection showed no promise, repeating it isn’t the answer.

When a diagnostic block gives clear relief, it often points toward a longer-lasting option such as radiofrequency ablation.

Why choose interventional care?

Many traditional pain treatments rely on opioids, which carry the risk of tolerance, dependence and addiction. Interventional procedures are minimally invasive, non-opioid, and usually let you get back to normal activities quickly.
